Introducing Mara – The Gentle Giant

Mara

Mara

So mom said I get to introduce myself now. My name is Mara and I love tummy rubs and food and more tummy rubs followed by more food and food followed by tummy rubs and hanging out with my humans and food lots and lots of food. I also like chasing and attacking cat tails … doesn’t matter who the tail belongs to, I just want to catch it.

Mom says I remind her of a teddy bear because I’ve let little kids carry me around the house without complaining. Of course what my mom doesn’t realize is I hated every second of it, but I was always too polite to make my feelings known. I do not scratch humans, the only exception to this rule is when I get startled.

Mom and Dad say I am the sweetest of all the kitties and pretty smart too. I sure do love my humans! In fact I love EVERYBODY!

Mom likes to make me work for my food, so she forces me and my little brother to solve puzzles to get extra treats. If there is food involved, I won’t give up until I solve the puzzle or break it … I will keep working at something long after my little brother gives up and wanders off.

My Early Years:

Mara Collage

I was born in a small mountain town in Washington state. My mom and dad adopted me from a family who gave me away for free. Mom chose me because I have a pattern on my side that looks like a target. I was an awkward kitten with giant feet, that dad liked to call my little hulk fists. Even though I was born in the mountains and I have a thick coat of fur, I hate the cold. I prefer to cuddle up with one of my humans on cold days.

I didn’t talk at all for a month after I was adopted. Boy were my humans shocked when I did start talking because once I started I couldn’t stop. I have a very large vocal range from squeaks to chirps to meows and growls. I especially love freaking out my humans by making unearthly howling noises when I bring them my catch of the day (ranging from cat toys to bugs). I also follow a strict catch and release policy with bugs. Sometimes mom gets mad at me because I like to put live bugs on her pillow. I don’t know why she gets so mad. I’ve seen human treats on pillows in a hotel room, so what’s the difference? I’m just trying to show her my appreciation.

Well that’s a little about me … I’m sure there is more I could add, but I just don’t know.

Signing off now!
